Jacob Newman was able to fix a problem that I had with my HVAC fan. I was expecting to have to replace the fan motor but it turned out that the system schematic sheet had come loose and been sucked into the fan. This created a loud sound that sounded like the fan was going out. However, pulling the sheet from the fan fixed the problem. He was very courteous and knowledgeable. Thanks Jacob.

We had a 2.5-ton 80/20 split unit installed today just after ordering it last night with help from Jacob Newman. Sebastian, Tristan, and a helper who came with them were extremely courteous, friendly, and helpful. They explained everything that they were going to be doing during the installation. You could tell that had done this kind of installation enough that they probably could do it in their sleep. I showed them where the access was in the master bedroom closet and I apologized because the access opening was small. They looked and said it was nothing that hadn't seen before. Then each one started on their different task. They had to remove a closet shelf and trim around the access opening for clearance issues once they had taken measurements, (asked if it was okay before they removed anything) and replaced it like new. They all worked like machines when the outside unit was completed they came and helped the other to remove the old split unit and replace the new unit in the attic. They cleaned up any mess in the areas where they worked and looked proud of the work they had accomplished. They double-checked everything to make sure that it worked perfectly. Excellent workers especially as hot as it was in the attic. I want to also give Hep a big thank you for hiring veterans. Being a former Marine hiring veterans is always a big plus for me in any business. I thank you guys a lot.

Comprehensive Air Conditioning Service in Erwin

The Importance of Climate Control in Erwin

Erwin’s location in the Appalachian foothills gifts the town with crisp mountain winters and humid, sun-drenched summers. Those dramatic seasonal swings place heavy demands on homes and businesses alike, making dependable heating and cooling more than a creature comfort—it is a basic requirement for health, well-being, and productivity. When summer temperatures soar, a properly tuned air conditioning system shields occupants from dangerous heat levels, reduces humidity that fosters mold growth, and preserves sensitive electronics and furnishings. During winter months, efficient heating prevents frozen pipes, keeps indoor air at a safe temperature, and allows families to thrive in comfort even when frost coats the Nolichucky River banks. HEP addresses those year-round necessities with a holistic HVAC approach designed specifically for Erwin’s geographic and climatic realities.

By aligning each of these offerings with manufacturer specifications and local building codes, HEP delivers reliable relief from summer heat while maximizing energy efficiency.

Expert Heating Solutions for All Seasons

Heat Pumps and Furnace Services

Erwin’s moderate winter climate makes heat pumps a popular option, yet traditional gas or oil furnaces remain prevalent in many households. HEP’s heating capabilities cover the spectrum of technologies:

  • Dual-fuel heat pump systems that switch seamlessly between electric and gas heat for optimal efficiency
  • High-efficiency condensing furnaces with multi-stage burners and variable-speed blowers
  • Hydronic systems utilizing boilers and radiant floor loops for even, draft-free warmth
  • Ductless cold-climate heat pumps engineered to perform in subfreezing temperatures
  • Electric resistance backup heat for applications where fuel lines are unavailable

Certified technicians perform start-to-finish installations, flue and vent inspections, combustion analysis, and ECM blower retrofits, ensuring homeowners in Erwin stay warm without wasting energy.

Preventive Maintenance Advantages

Proactive maintenance is the single most cost-effective step homeowners can take to protect heating equipment. By scheduling routine inspections with HEP, Erwin residents gain:

  • Lower utility bills through optimized combustion and airflow
  • Reduced likelihood of mid-winter breakdowns and emergency calls
  • Extended equipment life, delaying the expense of replacement
  • Verification that safety controls—limit switches, flame sensors, pressure switches—operate correctly
  • Cleaner indoor air due to regular filter replacements and duct inspections

Indoor Air Quality Enhancements

The Hidden Impact of Airborne Contaminants

Mountain breezes may feel pure outdoors, but inside a tightly sealed home or commercial building, pollutants quickly accumulate. Dust, pet dander, pollen, volatile organic compounds, and microbial spores circulate through ductwork with every heating or cooling cycle. HEP’s indoor air quality solutions tackle those contaminants at the source:

  • High-MERV pleated filters and electrostatic media tailored to existing HVAC equipment
  • Whole-home air purifiers that use ultraviolet-C light and photocatalytic oxidation to neutralize pathogens
  • Energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) that exchange stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air while conserving heat
  • Humidifiers and dehumidifiers managed by smart controls for consistent 40–60% relative humidity
  • Ductwork inspections, sealing, and sanitizing to eliminate hidden buildup that degrades air quality

By integrating these components, HEP transforms ordinary ducted systems into comprehensive environmental management platforms.

Energy Efficiency Upgrades

Maximizing Return on HVAC Investments

Rising energy prices underscore the importance of squeezing every available BTU and kilowatt-hour from HVAC equipment. HEP engineers evaluate each property’s thermal envelope and mechanical systems, then recommend targeted upgrades:

  • Programmable and Wi-Fi thermostats enabling custom schedules, geofencing, and remote monitoring
  • Variable-frequency drives (VFDs) on commercial air handlers to modulate fan speed automatically
  • Zoning dampers that deliver conditioned air only where needed, preventing overheating or overcooling unused spaces
  • High-performance attic and wall insulation that reduces heating and cooling loads
  • Sealed combustion furnaces and heat pumps with SEER2 and HSPF ratings that exceed federal minimums
  • Refrigerant retrofits that replace outdated R-22 systems with environmentally friendly R-410A or R-32 alternatives

These improvements not only trim monthly bills but also lighten environmental footprints, supporting Erwin’s broader sustainability goals.

Emergency HVAC Response Prepared by HEP

24-Hour Readiness for Critical Failures

Winter freezes can burst coils, and sudden power surges can incapacitate compressors at the height of a summer heatwave. HEP maintains a rapid-response framework engineered for Erwin’s unique risks:
