Geofencing and Occupancy Detection

By leveraging smartphone GPS data or in-home motion sensors, the thermostat identifies when the house is empty and adjusts settings to conserve energy. Upon detecting return, it restores preferred comfort levels before occupants walk through the door.

Weather Adaptation

API connections to local Ducktown weather stations allow the thermostat to pre-emptively compensate for forecasted highs, lows, or sudden storms. This feature smooths temperature swings and reduces compressor short-cycling.

Voice Control Compatibility

Hands full while cooking or arriving with groceries? Voice commands issued through popular smart speakers change temperature, switch modes, or request current climate data without ever touching the wall unit.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough of a Typical HEP Thermostat Upgrade in Ducktown

Knowing what to expect removes uncertainty and builds confidence in the upgrade process.

Initial Site Evaluation

A technician examines:

  • Model and age of existing thermostat
